Manager Kim (김부장, Gim Bujang) is the main protagonist of Manager Kim.
Appearance
At first glance, Manager Kim appears to be an average Korean man of unknown height and black hair. However, he has numerous bullet wounds and cuts around his body from his time in the military. When angry, excessive veins emerge from his body, and his eyes become bloodshot.
Personality
When going about his ordinary life, Manager Kim behaved docile and unassuming. His demeanour stemmed from the fact that he was under constant surveillance by the Government. Therefore, he had to avoid conflict because stirring trouble could jeopardise his everyday life alongside his daughter, Minji.
However, when his daughter disappears, he becomes determined and aggressive, contrasting with his earlier actions. He throws away all of his worries about the Government to find his daughter, showing that he prioritises her over everything else.
History
Manager Kim is an ex-Sergeant and Spy who has carried out numerous missions for his country.[1]He was so dangerous that China and Russia had dedicated teams to him. In addition, North Korea has a cash bounty for him because he attempted to assassinate their Supreme Leader twice.[2]
Kim spent one night with a woman and, as a result, impregnated her. He wanted to leave his post to care for his daughter. However, the government still stopped him to avoid exposing their violations of foreign affairs.[1] The South Korean government had him attempt to assassinate the North Korean Supreme Leader again for him to leave his post.[2]
Fighting Prowess
Manager Kim's fighting styles are CQC (Close Quarter Combat) and Jeet Kune Do.
CQC is a modern and realistic self-defence system that combines martial arts, military and police tactics. The fighting style comprises strikes, kicks, takedowns, joint locks, weapon defence, ground fighting and more.
The martial art Jeet Kune Do is a modern style incorporating kung fu, fencing, and boxing elements. Bruce Lee devised it.
Manager Kim most likely learned CQC within the military as part of his training, presumably using it many times to kill or subdue enemy combatants.
